British Gold Angels?

2 Attachment(s)
Anybody own any of these? Got a thing in the mail yesterday offering these for $1395 each (1 oz. gold) for the first year of issue, I think it was either 1984 or 1986 (I recycled the info so it's gone), in MS69 condition (NGC), limit 2 per customer. Seems this guy bought a bunch at an estate sale in England.

I had never heard of these until yesterday. Found this pic of the 2007 mintage. The dragon and angel were reversed, facing the other direction, on the 80s coin in that offer. The place I found these pics want $2295 for the 2007!

I want one, but not at those prices!

YES! I have one from 1986 that I bought in 1997 for a whopping $320. Gorgeous coin! Mine is not graded, but it was never taken out of its plastic case. They weren't grading them back then - in fact, grading these or the gold Lunars is sort of a relatively new thing.

On the 1986 the artwork is a lot better and the queen looks 40 years younger..........almost...........dare I say it.............cute!

These pics are not mine, but are like my coin...........

Cute but not for $1,395. Spot + $30 maybe.

The detail on the older coin is much nicer, as it was in the photos on the special offer. Oh, to see those kind of prices again!

That's too bad, they made the angel look like he belongs on the cover of a Manowar album on the new coin.

The Brits and former Brit colonies seem to have the eye for gold coins. A couple of months ago, someone posted a picture of a coin with a duplicate of a black postage stamp on it, made by some Brit colony or another.

It was beautiful.

Beautiful coin, although I wouldn't pay that much for an ounce of gold. I do wish the brits would put something on a coin other than the queen however. The queen, to me at least, gives off that same old, same old smell.

I have a 1/10th ounce version of that coin. I picked it up from the local dealer for $74.00 (tax included) the other day. This is the same price he was asking for 1/10th ounce GAEs.

I think it was a good deal, as these coins seem to go for a premium. (This kind of stuff makes me really want to buy my PMs from my local vendor.)

The coins look nice and if he happens to stumble upon another one I'll pick it up. I like the angel artwork as well, but as other posters have stated, the queen needs a face lift.

Isle of Man also has some weird fascination with cats. They also produce a lot of different cat coins. I'll have to pick up some of those for variety. I find the 'alley cat' coin humorous. Most coins have glamorous iconography, alley cats are not the norm. :D
